Saint Patrick's Day is coming up and Lilly is getting ready to celebrate! In order to help the celebrations, today we will be showing you how to make your very own Shamrock Kitty Top!

Supplies
3 pieces of felt (9"x12")
Yarn
1 button
1 metal yarn sewing needle
1 pair of scissors
permanent marker
Optional:
Tacky Glue
Green kitty mascot
First you are going to take your dark green piece of felt. Fold it in half. Then take your scissors and cut out a square. This is where kitty's head is going to go so make sure it is big enough to wrap around their front and button.
Lay the material out flat. Now take your white felt and lay it on top. You are going to be cutting a square from the white to place on the green.

Measure out a small square that is going to fit in the center of the green material. I measured 4x4 inches.

Cut out the white square and lay it on the material to make sure it fits.

Once you are sure that it fits you can get ready to sew. Thread your needle and knot the end. You are going to want to take the needle and poke holes along the white and green felt as the felt can be a little tough.

Once the holes are poked take the needle and thread and sew all the way around the square. It doesn't have to look perfect. This will make your piece more original.

Beware kitty kong...

At this point you can make your shamrock. Take your light green felt and trace a shamrock. Take your scissors and cut it out. Again, it does not have to be perfect. All shamrocks are wonderful and different!

At this point you can short cut the sewing by taking some tacky glue and using that to finish the shamrock. If you don't have tacky glue you can always just sew the shamrock on as well... but I like the look of no thread on the shamrock.

Stick the shamrock onto your white piece of felt.

You are almost done! Only a couple more steps!
At this point you take the button and put it on the left side of the fabric. Sew it on carefully and make sure that it is secure.

Now take the other piece of green fabric sticking out (not the one with the button) and fold it in half. Take your scissors and cut a slit in it that allows enough room for the button to fit through.

Now your project is complete!

All you have to do now is get your kitty to wear it! This can take some enticing...

Hope you all enjoyed this little kitty craft! Have a great Saint Patrick's Day! Stay tuned tomorrow for Adoption Tuesday!
